FREDERICK, MD – Regina Williams today announced her intentions to seek the Republican nomination for the office of Frederick County Executive. The former Frederick County Budget Officer will kick off her campaign on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at her family’s business, J Bar W Ranch, at 3:00pm.
“On the eve of the weekend when we celebrate the toughest job in the world – Mom , I will stand before you as a single mom with my mother, daughter and family as I vie for the second toughest job I may ever have,” stated Ms. Williams. “I want my daughter to someday be able to afford to buy a home in Frederick County, and start her own business if she chooses. I will work hard to make Frederick County an affordable and business friendly place for our children, our leaders of tomorrow. My focus will be on providing services in a more streamlined, efficient and responsive manner to the citizens and businesses of Frederick County.”
Regina Williams was born and raised on a dairy farm in Frederick County and attended Frederick County Public Schools. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Hood College, and is a CPA with a Masters Degree in Accounting & Financial Management from UMUC.
During her tenure as Frederick County Budget Director, she was responsible for creating the budget and 6 year projections for the Bond Rating Agencies in New York that resulted in Frederick County being upgraded to AAA by Standard & Poor’s. For the first time in history, Frederick County had AAA bond rating by all three agencies. Fewer than 50 counties out of more than 3,000 counties nationwide have AAA bond ratings from all three rating agencies.
